Myoga Set - White Feather Plants x 3 & Ginger Buds

Get the best of both worlds, with some the delicious fresh myoga ginger bulbs for now and a set of 3 White Feather myoga plants for you to grow at home so you have some of your own in the future!

Myoga ginger is a type of ginger native to Japan. Unlike the more commonly known ginger rhizome (the underground stem), myoga is prized for its flower buds and shoots rather than its root. It belongs to the Zingiberaceae family, which also includes spices like turmeric and cardamom.

Myoga ginger plants are best planted in partial to full shade as direct sun can scorch the delicate variegated leaves, in moist but well-drained soil, rich in organic matter. Keep the plants well-watered, particularly during dry spells, ensuring the soil remains consistently moist but not waterlogged. They are hardy through most parts of the UK (to approximately -10°C); in colder areas, protection or container growing is advisable. Mulching in the winter will help to protect the roots and retain moisture.

When planted outside, the foliage will die back in winter and burst into life again in the spring. From mid to late summer, the fleshy, crunchy buds are produced at soil level, or just below, and should be harvested before they open.
